Normally when C.Gars Ltd hosts one of its cigar auctions there are roughly 300 lots; the London-based retailer’s current auction has 829 lots, the most lots it has ever sold.

This is the 35th auction hosted by C.Gars Ltd—which began hosting online-only auctions in 2016—and like most things 2020, is being done entirely online through OnlineCigarAuctions.com. There are a variety of Cuban Davidoff and Dunhills—some full boxes and others singles—as well as Cohiba limited editions, Edición Regionals and just about everything in between.

In addition, the auction will include special items like the Cubatabaco 1492 and Habanos 1994, the latter of which includes a full humidor with a starting bid of £14,000 ($18,000).

About 100 of the 829 lots are whiskies or bourbon.

When asked about the increase in lots, Mitchell Orchant—managing director for C.Gars Ltd—told halfwheel that there was an increase in what he described as “small collection sales” including lots that were being stored by customers at the company’s London-based cigar lockers. Orchant explained that because those customers don’t expect to be traveling some are deciding to sell lots.

Furthermore, the weak British pound and continued Asian demand is expected to increase interest in lots.
