My Father Puts Five Fonsecas in a Tin – Cigar Aficionado

The Fonseca by My Father Cosaco, which is one of the smallest sizes in the line, will soon be available in a handy, five-count tin. The tins have a suggested retail price of $39 each and are scheduled to ship next week on March 25.

The corona-sized Cosaco measures 5 3/8 inches by 42 ring gauge and was released with the rest of the line in late August, however it was only offered in 20-count boxes at the time. It’s the only size that comes in a tin and also the only cigar in the six-size line that’s wrapped in tissue paper—a nod to the presentation of the original Cuban brand.

Made at the My Father Cigars factory located in Estelí, Nicaragua, Fonseca by My Father are Nicaraguan puros consisting entirely of tobaccos grown by the Garcia family, including the shade-grown Corojo ’99 wrapper.

The non-Cuban version of the Fonseca brand was purchased by My Father in 2019 from the Quesada family, who previously made the cigars in the Dominican Republic for 45 years. While the Cosaco is a diminutive size, the smallest cigar in the line is the Petit Corona, a 4 1/4 by 40 smoke that was named No. 18 on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 cigars of 2020.
