Habanos SA Updates José L. Piedra Packaging – halfwheel – halfwheel.com

Habanos S.A. has announced that it is updated the packaging for the value-priced José L. Piedra brand.

The Cuban cigar monopoly will be changing the number of cigars offered per box from 25 to 12 cigars. José L. Piedra is packaged in bundles which are then placed in cardboard boxes. The artwork on the bundle and box have been changed slightly with a more intricate logo. A verison of that logo will eventually be used on the bands themselves.

José L. Piedra is also offered in five-packs that are sold in cardboard sleeves.

Habanos S.A. says the new packaging is being phased in as the existing inventory of old packaging runs out.

Currently, the José L. Piedra line is offered in four regular production vitolas:

• José L. Piedra Brevas — 5 1/4 inches (133mm) x 42
• José L. Piedra Cazadores — 6 inches (152mm) x 43
• José L. Piedra Conservas — 5 1/2 inches (140mm) x 44
• José L. Piedra Petit Cazadores — 4 1/8 inches (105mm) x 43

José L. Piedra uses short filler tobaccos, making it one of the most affordable cigars from Habanos S.A.
