Partagas Limited Reserve Decadas 2020 Out Next Week – Cigar Aficionado
General Cigar Co. has assembled a blend of banner tobacco vintages from all over the world and put it into the new Partagas Limited Reserve Decadas 2020, a Cameroon-wrapped line of lonsdales shipping to retailers on Monday.
According to the company, the new Partagas is a mélange of date-specific tobacco from its large library of well-aged leaf, starting with a Cameroon wrapper from the 2008–2009 harvest. The binder is Mexican San Andrés from the 1997–1998 growing season; and the filler is a mix of Dominican (Piloto Cubano from ’09) and Mexican tobacco (San Andrés from the 1997-1998 crop).
This multi-country blend of vintage tobacco comes in one size, a slender 6 3/4 inch by 43 ring shape called Dalia. Each is regally presented in its own individual glass tube capped with a wax seal. Packaged in a 10-count box, each Dalia will retail for $17.99. As with all non-Cuban Partagas cigars, they are made in the Dominican Republic at the General Cigar Dominicana factory. Only 2,500 boxes have been produced.
The Partagas Limited Reserve Decadas series started in 2005 with tobacco vintages purported to be from 1995. The idea behind the Decadas, which means “decade” in Spanish, is that the cigars contain tobacco aged for at least 10 years. Other releases followed until 2009 when General gave the brand a 10-year hiatus. Last year, Partagas Decadas returned as a single-size limited edition. Though the tobacco types and vintages have varied from year to year, all releases have one thing in common—a Cameroon wrapper.
