Saint Luis Rey Carenas Coming in April – halfwheel – halfwheel.com
Altadis U.S.A.’s Saint Luis Rey brand will be getting a new line called Carenas that is scheduled to arrive in mid-April.
According to Cigar Aficionado, the line uses a Nicaraguan wrapper, Honduran broadleaf binder and Honduran filler, and will be offered in four sizes:
- Saint Luis Rey Carenas Robusto (5 x 50)
- Saint Luis Rey Carenas Toro (6 x 52)
- Saint Luis Rey Carenas Belisoco (6 1/8 x 54)
- Saint Luis Rey Carenas Magnum (6 x 60)
The report does not list specific pricing by vitola but says it will range between $8.25 and $9.15. Each size is offered in 20-count boxes and is made at the Flor de Copan S.A. factory in Honduras.
The line gets its name from Puerto de Carenas, the previous name from the Port of Havana. There is also a Cuban-made line of cigars that uses the Saint Luis Rey name.
Emails sent to several people at the company seeking details about the line and the accuracy of the report have thus far not been answered.
